What is NASDAQ Last Sale (NLS)?
NASDAQ Last Sale (NLS) is a new proprietary data product that facilitates the free and widespread distribution of real-time intraday trade data via the Internet and other electronic mediums. NLS allows investors to make more timely and better informed investment decisions by providing real-time last sale data for securities listed on NASDAQ®, NYSE, Amex and regional exchanges – including price, volume and time.
NLS data is derived from NASDAQ’s trading platform, which handles a larger percentage of all U.S. equity trading than any other U.S. exchange. In April, NASDAQ OMX’s matched market share of all U.S. equity share volume was more than any other U.S. exchange for the thirteenth consecutive month at 29.2%.
NLS also carries trade data from the FINRA/NASDAQ Trade Reporting FacilityTM (TRF). In April, firms reported more than 29 billion shares in trade transactions via the FINRA/NASDAQ TRF. FINRA/NASDAQ TRF volume represented 19.6% of total U.S. equity market volume last month.
What is the NLS fee structure?
NASDAQ OMXSM will waive all fees for the NLS product for the month of June 2008.
NASDAQ OMX will offer two levels of entitlement for the NLS service: 1) NLS for NASDAQ-listed issues and 2) NLS for NYSE-/Amex-listed issues. To ensure widespread distribution of NLS, NASDAQ OMX will offer multiple fee schedule options as well as monthly fee caps.
