NASDAQ Test Facility – Equities Testing Moving from Ashburn to Carteret

What you need to know:

  • NASDAQ OMX is undergoing a technology refresh on The NASDAQ Stock Market system.
  • The test environment for equities trading will be moved from Ashburn to Carteret.
  • The NTF will be live in Carteret beginning on or about Monday, November 11, 2013.
  • All firms must transition out of Ashburn by Monday, March 31, 2014.
  • The test environment for other NASDAQ and FINRA services (ACT, ACES, MFQS TRACE and OTCBB Quoting) will remain in Ashburn, VA.

What is changing?

NASDAQ OMX® is currently undergoing a technology refresh on The NASDAQ Stock Market® (NASDAQ®) system. The equities trading component of the NASDAQ Test Facility (NTF) will also be refreshed in order for the infrastructure to mirror production, and in addition will be moved from Ashburn to Carteret. The refresh is part of the NASDAQ OMX commitment to leading the industry in technology standards.

Will the following NASDAQ OMX and FINRA testing environments be impacted?

The test environments for ACT, ACES, MFQS TRACE and OTCBB Quoting will not be impacted and will remain in Ashburn, VA.

What do I need to do?

Customers will be required to order a new connection into the NTF, as the infrastructure will be segregated from production. Customers can choose from either a 1G or 10G hand-off, or VPN.

How do I obtain my new port IPs?

NASDAQ OMX must coordinate the transition to the new IP address with you. Orders can be placed via the CoLo Console beginning immediately for co-located customers and via our Direct Connect form for Direct Connect customers. Alternatively, firms may contact NASDAQ OMX Technical Support directly to obtain their new IP addresses.

When will I have to change my IPs?

The NTF will be live in Carteret beginning on or about November 11, 2013, and all firms must transition out of Ashburn by March 31, 2014.

What is the pricing structure?

  • Hand-off fees will be $1,000 per month for either 1G or 10G access.*
  • $1,000 install fees will be waived during the migration period, which ends March 31, 2014*
  • Port fees will remain unchanged for both markets. Refer to our pricing page for more information.
