What you need to know:

  • NASDAQ OMX® recently announced that it would cease operation of NASDAQ OMX EuropeSM (NEUROSM) on or about July 1, 2010.
  • NASDAQ OMX has entered into negotiations with Equiduct to allow for NEURO participants to transition circuits to the Equiduct trading platform and Equiduct Data Feed product.

What is changing?

On April 28, 2010, NASDAQ OMX announced that it decided to close NEURO, NASDAQ OMX’s pan-European multilateral trading facility (MTF).

On May 18, 2010, NASDAQ OMX signed a letter of intent with Equiduct to provide NEURO market participants with the option to transition to the Equiduct platform for trading and market data.

For additional details, please refer to the NASDAQ OMX Europe website.

When is the last day of trading for NEURO?

The last day of trading on NEURO is expected to be Thursday, July 1, 2010.

What is the transition plan for the NEURO real-time data feed products?

NASDAQ OMX offered two data feed products for the NEURO market:

  • NASDAQ OMX Europe (NEURO) TotalView-ITCH
  • NASDAQ OMX Europe (NEURO) Trade Feed

When NEURO closes, NASDAQ OMX will officially cease support for these data feed products.

As part of the Equiduct transition option, however, firms may elect to have their NEURO TotalView-ITCH lines switched to the Equiduct Data Feed. For more information on the Equiduct product, please refer to the Market Data section of the Equiduct website or contact the Equiduct sales team at +44(0)20 3102 4080.

The NEURO Trade Feed is not included in the Equiduct transition. Once the NEURO market closes, NASDAQ OMX will disconnect all NEURO Trade Feed circuits.

What are NASDAQ OMX’s plans for the Historical NEURO data?

As noted in Data News #2009-38, NASDAQ OMX introduced a Historical NEURO TotalView-ITCH product in August 2009.

With the market closing, NASDAQ OMX will stop posting new data files for the NEURO Historical TotalView-ITCH product as of July 1, 2010.

The NEURO Historical TotalView-ITCH product is not included in the Equiduct transition. Though the NEURO market is closing, NASDAQ OMX plans to retain the Historical NEURO TotalView-ITCH data files from August 26, 2009 to July 1, 2010. Firms interested in the NEURO historical data should contact NASDAQ OMX Global Data Products at +1 301 978 5307 or + 45 33 93 33 66.
