What is short interest information?
The NASDAQ Short Interest Report publishes a summary of the consolidated market short interest positions in all NASDAQ-listed securities.
What are the pricing changes for NASDAQ Short Interest Report?
Pending the Securities and Exchange Commission filing, and effective Thursday, January 1, 2015, NASDAQ OMX® will retire the tiered / per Subscriber fee model and move to a more streamlined, easy to administer, flat fee distribution model for internal and external usage. The revised pricing for the NASDAQ Short Interest Report will be as follows:
Distributor Type | Monthly Fee |
---|---|
NASDAQ Short Interest Report Internal Distributor* | $1000 |
NASDAQ Short Interest Report External Distributor** | $2500 |
*An Internal Distributor is defined as a firm that distributes market data internally (i.e., to employees or authorized agents of the organization and/or within the premises of the Distributor).
**An External Distributor is defined as a firm that distributes the data externally to third-party recipients. The External Distributor fee includes internal usage of the data.
When will the fees be effective?
NASDAQ OMX strives to give an appropriate amount of time in changing fees so customers can adequately plan. In keeping with this strategy, these fees will be effective Thursday, January 1, 2015.
This advance notice period provides Distributors and Subscribers time to budget accordingly in preparation for 2015.
Why is NASDAQ OMX implementing this fee change?
NASDAQ OMX has made this change in an effort to keep costs fair for all market data distributors, while simplifying the associated fees and administration for clients. This change is being announced after having discussions with customers, and industry input around easier to administer policy practices. After this fee is introduced, firms are no longer required to submit usage reports with downstream Subscriber counts, but are instead charged a flat monthly fee based on the distribution of the NASDAQ Short Interest Report.
