What is changing?

As outlined in Data Technical News #2012-11, NASDAQ OMX is streamlining its MFQS Daily List processing to more efficiently handle cancelled or reversed fund corporate actions. As of June 25, 2012, the new MFQS Event Code values for the MFQS Daily List files will be:

MFQS Event Code Description Processing Notes
Addition Denotes a new instrument to be added to the MFQS system on the stated effective date. This is an existing event code. For additions, the MFQS Daily List populates those fields marked "New" only.
Deletion Denotes an instrument to be deleted from the MFQS system on the stated effective date. This is an existing event code. For deletions, the MFQS Daily List populates those fields marked "Current" only.
UIT Replacement Denotes a new Unit Investment Trust (UIT) instrument is being added to the MFQS system as a replacement for an existing UIT instrument. This is an existing event code. For UIT replacements, the MFQS Daily List fields marked as "Current" reflect the outgoing UIT information and the fields marked as "New" reflect the incoming UIT information.
MFQS Attribute Change Denotes that one or more of the listing attributes of an existing instrument is being updated in MFQS system. This is an existing event code. For MFQS Attribute Changes, NASDAQ OMX populates "Current" and "New" fields. Firms should process both to determine which data elements are being updated.
Restore Denotes that NASDAQ OMX is reinstating an instrument to the MFQS system on the stated effective date. This is a new event code. For restores, the MFQS Daily List will populate those fields marked "New" only because the processing logic is closest to addition.
Withdraw - Addition Denotes that the issuer is cancelling a previously announced instrument addition prior to the stated effective date. This is a new event code. Upon receipt of this MFQS Daily List event, firms should remove the pending MFQS addition record from databases.
Withdraw - Deletion Denotes that the issuer is reversing a previously announced instrument deletion prior to the stated effective date. This is a new event code. Upon receipt of this MFQS Daily List event, firms should remove the pending MFQS deletion record from databases.
Withdraw - UIT Replacement Denotes that the issuer is cancelling a previously announced UIT replacement event prior to the stated effective date. This is a new event code. Upon receipt of this MFQS Daily List event, firms should remove the pending UIT replacement record from databases.
Withdraw - MFQS Attribute Change Denotes that the issuer is cancelling a previously announced MFQS instrument change request prior to the stated effective date. This is a new event code. Upon receipt of this MFQS Daily List event, firms should remove the pending MFQS attribute change record from databases.
Withdraw - Restore Denotes that NASDAQ OMX is cancelling a previously announced Restore action prior to the stated effective date. This is a new event code. Given the procedural precautions put in place, NASDAQ OMX should rarely, if ever, use this event code.

Please refer to the MFQS Daily List / MFQS Registration Service specification document for field level processing information for each of these event codes.

Where can I find sample MFQS Daily List files to use for testing purposes?

NASDAQ OMX has generated sample MFQS Daily List Advanced Notification and Next Day data files based on two days worth of MFQS Daily List entries. While NASDAQ OMX used actual MFQS Daily List events for many of the stated event codes, it needed to mock up records for several of the withdraw events which rarely occur in production. Please refer to the comment field for details on each MFQS Daily List test case.
