What you need to know:

  • NASDAQ OMX® would like to remind its trading participants and direct data feed subscribers that Daylight Savings Time will be ending soon.
    • In the European Union, Daylight Savings Time will end on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at 1:00 a.m., Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
    • In the United States, Daylight Savings Time will end on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at 2:00 a.m., Eastern Time (ET).

When will Daylight Savings Time end in 2012?

In the European Union, Daylight Savings Time, or Summer Time, is scheduled to end on the last Sunday in October. In 2012, European clocks should revert to Standard Time on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at 1:00 a.m., GMT.

In the United States, Daylight Savings Time is scheduled to end on the first Sunday in November. In 2012, United States clocks should revert to Standard Time on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at 2:00 a.m., ET.

When should I adjust system clocks for Daylight Savings Time?

For the NASDAQ OMX European-based products, firms should adjust their system clocks to reflect the time change before the start of trading on Monday, October 29, 2012.

For the NASDAQ OMX U.S.-based products, firms should adjust their system clocks to reflect Standard Time before the start of trading on Monday, November 5, 2012.

How will the different start and end dates for Daylight Savings Time impact the NASDAQ OMX Index Products?

On the NASDAQ OMX Global Index Dissemination ServiceSM (GIDS), the European index values are calculated during NASDAQ OMX Nordic market hours, and the U.S. index values are calculated during The NASDAQ Stock Market® (NASDAQ®) hours. NASDAQ OMX Nordic markets follow the Central European Time (CET) standard, and NASDAQ follows U.S. ET.

Russell TickTM also uses CET standard for European indexes and ET standard for U.S. indexes.

Due to the different start and end dates for Daylight Savings Time in the U.S. and Europe, NASDAQ OMX distributors will see a one-hour difference in the GIDS and Russell Tick transmission schedule during the week of October 29th.

Where can I find the market hours for each of NASDAQ OMX's markets?

NASDAQ OMX posts its system hours on the individual market websites. For convenience, hyperlinks to the trading schedules are listed below:
