When will NASDAQ OMX begin disseminating the new indexes?

Effective Thursday, November 19, 2009, The NASDAQ OMX Group® will begin disseminating the NASDAQ OMX Valueguard indexes.

NASDAQ OMX® will support the following NASDAQ OMX Valueguard indexes:

  • NASDAQ OMX Valueguard Housing Index Flats Stockholm (Symbol: HOXFLATSTO)
  • NASDAQ OMX Valueguard Housing Index Flats Gothenburg (Symbol: HOXFLATGBG)
  • NASDAQ OMX Valueguard Housing Index Flats Malmo (Symbol: HOXFLATMLM)

What are the NASDAQ OMX Valueguard Indexes?

The NASDAQ OMX Valueguard indexes are co-branded between NASDAQ OMX and ValueGuard and are based on the Swedish Housing Market. The indexes are based on a statistical model which compensates for the fact that different types of flats (housing units) are sold during the same period. The purpose of the index is to reflect the underlying price trend.

How will the values be disseminated?

Data recipients will receive real-time index information from the NASDAQ OMX® proprietary data service NASDAQ OMX Global Index Data ServiceSM (GIDSSM). These indexes will be calculated in Swedish Krona (SEK) and identified as NASDAQ OMX Nordic family (Originator ID of "Y") in the message header field.

In addition to the real-time tick messages, NASDAQ OMX will support the following directory messages on GIDS:

  • Index Directory Messages - Provides the index identifier, index name, market value, divisor and the index base value.

Please note: NASDAQ OMX will not support an Index Settlement Value at this time.

How often will the new indexes be updated?

The new NASDAQ OMX Valueguard indexes will be calculated once every month. Since GIDS currently does not support a once monthly frequency, within the Index Directory message, NASDAQ OMX will populated the dissemination frequency as space which indicates that no frequency interval is provided.

NASDAQ OMX will look to introduce additional dissemination frequency interval codes in the next GIDS release. Once the GIDS plans are confirmed, NASDAQ OMX will post a Data Technical News item with the details.

Will the new indexes be made available on the Genium Consolidated Feed in the European data centers?

Yes, NASDAQ OMX will also disseminate these indexes via the NASDAQ OMX Genium Consolidated Feed (GCF) from our European data centers. The index values will be disseminated once every month in GCF and will be included in existing Nordic index products.
