Early Market Close on Friday, November 28, 2008, and Wednesday, December 24, 2008

Summary:

  • As outlined in NASDAQ Vendor Alert #2008-87, NASDAQ OMX will close its U.S. equity and options trading systems three hours early on the following two dates in the fourth quarter of 2008:
    • Friday, November 28, 2008
    • Wednesday, December 24, 2008
  • While the U.S. markets will close early, NASDAQ OMX will maintain its normal reporting schedule for the Mutual Fund Quotation Service (MFQS) on both dates.
  • NASDAQ OMX would also like to remind firms that all U.S. systems (including MFQS) will be closed on Thursday, November 27, 2008, and Thursday, December 25, 2008, in observance of the Thanksgiving and of Christmas holidays.

Early Close Days in November and December:

As outlined in NASDAQ Vendor Alert #2008-87, NASDAQ OMXSM will close its U.S. equity and option trading systems three hours early on the following two dates in the fourth quarter of 2008:

  • Friday, November 28, 2008
  • Wednesday, December 24, 2008

The Mutual Fund Quotation ServiceSM (MFQSSM), however, will operate on a normal reporting schedule on both dates. As a reminder, the MFQS reporting schedule is:

MFQS Reporting Session MFQS Data Entry Window
Primary Reporting Session 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Eastern Time (ET)
Second Reporting Session 6:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., ET

While MFQS will observe a normal reporting schedule, NASDAQ OMX will offer only limited staff support for its data products after 2:00 p.m., ET. Therefore, NASDAQ OMX will not grant extensions to the primary reporting session on November 28th or December 24th. In addition, NASDAQ OMX will only be able to support technical service calls during the primary reporting session.

Market Holidays in November and December:

NASDAQ OMX will observe a market holiday at its U.S. facilities on the following two dates in the fourth quarter of 2008:

  • Thursday, November 27, 2008 — Thanksgiving
  • Thursday, December 25, 2008 — Christmas

All U.S. systems, including MFQS, will be closed for these two market holidays.
