NASDAQ receives SEC Approval to Calculate NASDAQ Official Closing Price
On March 18, 2003, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved NASDAQ’s® filing to begin calculating the NASDAQ Official Closing Price (NOCP) for all NASDAQ National Market® and SmallCapSM securities. To review the approval order, click here.
NASDAQ will begin calculating and disseminating this value on April 14, 2003. The NOCP calculation will enhance the process for identifying the NASDAQ-specific closing price for NASDAQ-listed issues by leveraging NASDAQ’s accurate, automatically executable quotation and trade data to determine a representative and transparent NASDAQ closing price.
For more background on the NOCP and its value, please see NASDAQ Vendor Alert #2003-6.
The NOCP value will be disseminated via the UTP Trade Data FeedSM (UTDFSM) through use of the new “M” trade modifier. For further information on this, please see UTP Vendor Alert #2002-161.
As a reminder, this Saturday, March 22, 2003, NASDAQ will conduct its first User Acceptance Test for NOCP. Please see UTP Vendor Alert #2003-16 for full testing details.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Questions about the NOCP or UTDF should be directed to NASDAQ Market Data Distribution at (301) 978-5307 or MKTDATASVC@nasdaq.com.
