Nasdaq Stock Market: New Trading Hours Effective December 6, 2026

To meet rising demand for U.S. equities across the globe, Nasdaq is engaging with regulators to offer nearly continuous trading 23 hours a day, 5 days a week, on the Nasdaq Stock Market. On December 6, 2026, Nasdaq will introduce a new trading session from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. ET. Order Handling
Trade Date and Settlement
Market Protections Nasdaq will make Equities Risk Checks available through both API and WorkX. In addition, the SEC has now approved a LULD national market system plan amendment requiring, among other things, the exchange’s rejection of orders priced outside certain static price bands disseminated via the securities information processors (SIPs). These bands will be based on the listing market's adjusted Official Closing Price and the adjusted last round-lot sale prior to 7:45 p.m. ET. The proposed upper band will be set 20% above the greater of the two reference prices, while the lower band will be set 20% below the lesser reference price, subject to minimum band widths of $3.00 for securities priced at or above $1.00 and $1.00 for securities priced below $1.00. Corporate Actions and Dividends As described in the Exchange’s rule proposal to become operative on December 6, 2026, certain categories of corporate actions will be halted before 9 p.m. ET on the day immediately preceding the effective date and resumed at 8 a.m. ET on the effective date. Order entry and trading of Nasdaq Test Symbols (ZXZZT, ZVZZT, and ZWZZT) will be available between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. Market data will be broadcast for Nasdaq Test Symbols during the pre-production period.
