NASDAQ OMX PHLX Eliminates Minimum Charge for the Options Regulatory Fee

What you need to know:

  • Effective Monday, February 1, 2010, NASDAQ OMX PHLX will eliminate the one-cent minimum charge per trade for the Options Regulatory Fee.
  • Total monthly charges for the Options Regulatory Fee assessed in a given month will be rounded to the nearest $0.01.

What is changing?

Effective Monday, February 1, 2010, NASDAQ OMX PHLXSM (PHLX®) will eliminate the one-cent minimum charge per trade for the Options Regulatory Fee (ORF), reducing the monthly ORF charge for all members. The total monthly charges assessed in a given month will be rounded to the nearest $0.01.

What is the Options Regulatory Fee?

As announced in Options Trader Alert #2009-66, PHLX replaced the Registered Representative/Member Exchange/Off-Floor Trader fees with the Options Regulatory Fee (ORF) effective January 4, 2010. The ORF is a fee of $0.0035 per contract that is assessed for an executed or cleared contract that clears in the customer range at The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC).
