Reminder - Final Scripted Industry Test for the Options Symbology Initiative (OSI) to be Held This Saturday, January 30, 2010

What you need to know:

  • On Friday, February 12, 2010, U.S. options markets will execute the Conversion Phase as outlined by the Options Symbology Initiative (OSI).
  • The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) will hold the final scripted industry test this Saturday, January 30, 2010.
  • To test with The NASDAQ Options Market and/or NASDAQ OMX PHLX, firms must register by Thursday, January 28, 2010 by contacting NASDAQ OMX Trading Services at +1 212 231 5180.

What is changing?

On Friday, February 12, 2010, U.S. options markets will execute the Conversion Phase as outlined by the Options Symbology Initiative (OSI). Firms must upgrade their systems to OSI-compliant interfaces prior to February 12th in order to trade on The NASDAQ Options MarketSM (NOM) and/or NASDAQ OMX PHLXSM (PHLX®).

Is testing available?

Yes, NOM and PHLX are participating in the Scripted Industry Tests held by The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC). The final scripted industry test is scheduled for this Saturday, January 30, 2010. This test will simulate a step in the consolidation process and subsequent trading and clearing using a combination of converted underlying symbols and classes and post-consolidation underlying symbols and classes. Firms must register for testing with NOM and/or PHLX by Thursday, January 28, 2010, through contacting NASDAQ OMX Trading Services at +1 212 231 5180.
