New Fields Added to the Symbol Directory and Certain Download Files

When will the new data fields first appear?
The new data field will be effective as of March 1, 2006.

What are the new data fields?
The three new fields are outlined below:
  • ETF – This field will identify if an Issue is an Exchange Traded Fund. This field will only be made available for Other Exchange Issues.
  • NASDAQ Member* – This field will identify if a Market Participant is a NASDAQ Member.
  • NASD Member* - This field will identify if a Market Participant is a NASD Member.

*Please note this field will be populated with the value of “N" until NASDAQ begins operating as an Exchange. On January 13, 2006, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved NASDAQ’s application to register The NASDAQ Stock Market LLC, a newly formed subsidiary, as a National Securities Exchange. NASDAQ is working with the SEC to determine the date on which NASDAQ will satisfy the conditions specified in the approval order and begin operating as an exchange. Please refer to Head Trader Alert 2006-005 and Head Trader Alert 2006-018 for more information.

Where will the new fields be provided within the Symbol Directory and the downloadable files?

The new fields will appear on the appropriate results page when requesting an issue symbol or Market Participant search as well as in the following downloadable files made available via the Website and FTP directory outlined below:
What are the allowed values for the new fields?
The allowed values for each of the fields within the search results page as well as the downloadable files are as follows:
  • Allowed Values:
    • Y – Yes
    • N – No

What are the new downloadable file formats?
The new downloadable file formats for both the Website and FTP directory are as follows:
  • Other Exchanges:
    Symbol l Security Name| Exchange | 19c-3 Eligibility | CQS | ETF
  • Market Participants:
    MPID | MP Type | Name | Location |Telephone | NASDAQ Member | NASD Member
