What you need to know:

  • The launch of the NASDAQ Global Index Family introduced indexes that tick during Asia/Pacific market hours. In an effort to provide vendors with an extensive offering of real-time data, NASDAQ OMX has extended the hours of operation for the Global Index Data Service (GIDS 2.0) data feed.
  • GIDS 2.0 now operates on a 23/6 schedule Sunday, 18:00 through Friday, 23:35.
  • Effective Monday, January 14, 2013, NASDAQ OMX will introduce a new Schedule/Session ID, "NSA", which will contain North and South American indexes that do not observe U.S. Market Holidays.
  • All Schedule/Session timing is now available in the GIDS 2.0 Specification document.
  • Due to the global nature of the data feed, GIDS 2.0 will observe very limited holidays. In addition, although the data feed will be operational, indexes with components observing a holiday may not tick.
  • Please note: The current GIDS data feed will be retired on Friday, December 28, 2012. NASDAQ OMX strongly encourages data recipients to migrate to GIDS 2.0 in order to ensure uninterrupted delivery of real-time index and ETP values.

What has changed?

The launch of the NASDAQ Global Index FamilySM introduced indexes that tick during Asia/Pacific market hours. In an effort to provide vendors with an extensive offering of real-time data, NASDAQ OMX® has extended the operational hours of the GIDS 2.0 data feed to service a world market. GIDS 2.0 now operates 23 hours a day, six days a week (23/6). GIDS 2.0 will operate Sunday, 18:00 through Friday, 23:35. NASDAQ OMX has updated the GIDS 2.0 Transmission Schedule to reflect the new operational hours.

What is the new Schedule/Session ID?

Effective Monday, January 14, 2013, NASDAQ OMX will introduce a new Schedule/Session, North/South America Session ("NSA"). This session will observe similar hours as the American Market Session ("AME"), but the indexes encompassed in this session will not observe U.S. Market Holidays.

What is the timing of each Schedule/Session?

One of the benefits of GIDS 2.0 is the regional delivery of summary information by asset class, allowing data recipients to receive information relevant to their local market closing session. The timing for each Schedule/Session ID is provided below. The times indicate when indexes with the assigned Schedule/Session ID will disseminate messages.
