UPDATE : UTP SIP Extended Trading Hours Industry Testing

What you need to know:

  • As mentioned in UTP Vendor Notice 2026-15, starting December 6, 2026, the industry has agreed to begin operating UTP SIP on a new schedule that will cover 23 hours 5 days a week. Upon implementation of this new schedule, the UTP SIP will begin on Sundays at 21:00 (9:00pm EST) through Fridays at 20:00 (8:00pm EST) with a planned 1-hour maintenance window each evening between approximately 20:00 – 21:00 (8:00pm – 9:00 pm EST)

  • In support of this announcement, UTP SIP will offer several industry testing opportunities. To assist participants and data recipients in preparing for and validating these tests, UTP SIP has also provided an Extended Trading Hours UAT Test Outline. Please refer to the test outline below.

  • Testing will be conducted over the Production Multicast IPs, and it is CRITICAL that Direct Data recipients take necessary precautions to protect their systems against database corruption during the Extended Trading Hours testing dates.

What are the testing opportunities?

As directed by the UTP Operating Committee and in preparation for the December 6 implementation, UAT industry testing will begin on Friday night at 11:00 p.m. EST. The system will remain available through standard Saturday testing hours (8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.) to support all testing needs.

UTP SIP, in consultation with SIAC and the UTP Operating Committee, has established the following testing opportunities:

As it is generated, the UTP SIP will disseminate the data via the UTP data feed production channels.

UTP Extended Trading Hours UAT Test Outline

UTP SIP will publish both the Current Symbol Directory (Category A, Type B) and the Enhanced Issue Symbol Directory (Category A, Type F) messages for all symbols.

Data Subscribers can use the Reference Data messages to determine symbol configuration details, and process the Trading Status updates for Halts, SSRs and new Overnight LULD Price Band.
10:55 PM - 11:00 PM Participant Connectivity/Input ETH Participants to establish connectivity for UTP input lines. Participants establish connections.
11:00 PM Extended Trading Hours Begin (simulation for 9:00 PM) Extended Trading Hours begin. Participants to start submitting Quote and Trade data. Quotes and trades accepted and disseminated via the multicast output lines.
12:00 AM Calendar Day rollover Calendar day rollover to the next day. Data publication continues as-is. Quotes and Trades continue to be accepted and disseminated via the multicast output lines.
4:00 AM Extended Trading Hours End ETH Participants to end their new extended trading sessions and can transition into the current early hours. Overnight Price Bands are cleared. Quote and Trade data continues to be published.
4:00 AM - 9:30 AM Early Trading Hours continue

UTP SIP session to stay up for regular data flow.

ETH Participants to continue to submit quote and trade data.

All other Participants to establish connectivity for UTP Input lines as per their applicable schedule and start submitting Quote and Trade data.

Quotes and trades accepted and disseminated via the multicast output lines.
9:30 AM Regular Hours Limit Up/Limit Down (LULD) Processing

Listing exchange to provide the Reference Price for LULD Price Band calculation to UTP SIP for their listed symbols.

UTP SIP to process the LULD Reference Price message and publish LULD Price Bands over multicast lines.

 Price Bands are generated and published over the multicast lines for symbols based on the LULD Reference Price and Trade data received from the Participants.
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM Data Verification Participants to continue to submit quote and trade data. Quotes and trades accepted and disseminated via the multicast output lines.
12:00 PM End of Regular Trading Hours (typically 04:00 PM) LULD Bands cleared by UTP SIP. End of Regular Trading Hours (typically 04:00 PM). LULD Bands cleared by UTP SIP.
12:00 PM - 12:10 PM UTP SIP to generate Closing Trade Summary Message (Category A - Type U). UTP SIP to generate Closing Trade Summary Message (Category A - Type U).
