What is Nasdaq Basic?
Nasdaq Basic is the industry-leading, low-cost Top-of-Book and Last Sale alternative. The product is comprised of the Nasdaq Top of Book Market Data Product (QBBO) and Nasdaq Last Sale or Nasdaq Last Sale Plus.
What is being announced?
Nasdaq is introducing a Nasdaq Basic Digital Media License. This new licensing option allows open and unrestricted media and financial portals—which currently are limited to distribution of Nasdaq Last Sale—to distribute Nasdaq Basic. This allows qualifying firms to upgrade their customers’ data experience through the additional data available with Nasdaq Basic: Bid and Ask from the Nasdaq Market.
Does this announcement impact other licenses?
Yes. This new license will also allow qualifying firms that purchase the Enterprise licenses listed below with the option of upgrading their customers’ experience from Nasdaq Last Sale to Nasdaq Basic.
Why is Nasdaq making this change?
This change is being introduced based upon customer demand, and in response to similar licensing options already available in the market. Allowing broader distribution of our products will promote greater transparency and also help Nasdaq compete more effectively against other exchanges.
What is the effective date of this change?
The change will be effective immediately on February 1st, 2022.
