What you need to know:

Effective Thursday, February 28, 2013, NASDAQ OMX® will begin disseminating the following new indexes on the Global Index Data Service 2.0SM (GIDS 2.0SM):

  • Credit Suisse NASDAQ Silver FLOWSTM108 Price Index (Symbol: QSLVO)
  • Credit Suisse NASDAQ Silver FLOWSTM108 Total Return Index (Symbol: QSLVOTR)

What are the new Indexes?

The Indexes are a part of the Formula-Linked OverWrite Strategy (FLOWSTM) Index family, which was developed by Credit Suisse. Each Index within the family is designed to replicate a "covered call" strategy. Covered call strategies represent an approach to owning assets that offers higher yield than simply holding the asset except in cases when the asset increases above the call strike. The Silver FLOWSTM Indexes adopt this covered call strategy. The 108 Indexes select the Option that has the lowest listed strike price that is above 108% of the closing price of the Shares as of the Strike Observation Time on the Strike Observation Date.

How will the indexes be disseminated?

Effective Thursday, February 28, 2013, data recipients will receive real-time index information from the proprietary GIDS 2.0 data feed.

NASDAQ OMX® will identify the indexes via the following data elements in GIDS 2.0:

Instrument ID Instrument Name Currency Frequency FP Type Brand
QSLVO Credit Suisse NASDAQ Silver FLOWSTM108 Price Index USD "1S" "I" "PI"
QSLVOTR Credit Suisse NASDAQ Silver FLOWSTM108 Total Return Index USD "1S" "I" "PI"
  • Equities Summary (Message Type F): Disseminated at the end of the U.S. and European trading session to relay the summary of the current trading day's activity for an equity index.
  • Index Directory (Message Type R): Disseminated at the start of each day to relay basic index information.

Please note: NASDAQ OMX will not support an official Index Settlement Value at this time.
