Nasdaq Introduces Monday and Wednesday Weekly Expirations For IWM Options

Subject to regulatory approval, Nasdaq PHLX (Phlx), Nasdaq BX Options (BX), The Nasdaq Options Market (NOM), Nasdaq ISE (ISE), Nasdaq GEMX (GEMX), and Nasdaq MRX (MRX) will expand the Short Term Option Series Program (STO) to list for trading options series on the iShares Russell 2000 (IWM) ETF which expire on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Listing of Wednesday IWM Expirations

On October 5, 2021, Phlx, BX, NOM, ISE, GEMX, and MRX anticipate listing weekly Wednesday IWM Expirations pursuant to STO for trading with the following expiration dates:

  • Wednesday, October 13, 2021
  • Wednesday, October 20, 2021
  • Wednesday, October 27, 2021
  • Wednesday, November 3, 2021
  • Wednesday, November 10, 2021

The next listing date will be October 12, 2021, where Phlx, BX, NOM, ISE, GEMX, and MRX will list Wednesday IWM Expirations with an expiration date of Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

Wednesday IWM Expirations will be listed for trading on any Tuesday or Wednesday that is a business day provided that Wednesday IWM Expirations that are listed on a Tuesday must be listed at least one business week and one business day prior to the expiration. If Wednesday is not a business day, the series shall expire on the first business day immediately prior to that Wednesday. Phlx, BX, NOM, ISE, GEMX, and MRX may list up to five consecutive and no more than five total Monday IWM Expirations at one time.

Listing of Monday IWM Expirations

On October 8, 2021, Phlx, BX, NOM, ISE, GEMX, and MRX anticipate listing weekly Monday IWM Expirations pursuant to STO for trading with the following expiration dates:

  • Monday, October 18, 2021
  • Monday, October 25, 2021
  • Monday, November 1, 2021
  • Monday, November 8, 2021
  • Monday, November 15, 2021

The next listing date will be October 15, 2021, where Phlx, BX, NOM, ISE, GEMX, and MRX will list Monday IWM Expirations with an expiration date of Monday, November 22, 2021.

Monday IWM Expirations will be listed for trading on any Friday or Monday that is a business day provided that Monday IWM Expirations that are listed on a Friday must be listed at least one business week and one business day prior to the expiration. If Monday is not a business day, the series shall expire on the first business day immediately following that Monday. Phlx, BX, NOM, ISE, GEMX, and MRX may list up to five consecutive and no more than five total Monday IWM Expirations at one time.

Trading Hours

Regular trading hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. EST.

Expiration

Phlx, BX, NOM, ISE, GEMX, and MRX may list Monday and Wednesday IWM Expirations in the same week in which monthly and Friday weekly option series in IWM expire. Phlx, BX, NOM, ISE, GEMX, and MRX will not list Monday or Wednesday IWM Expirations on a Monday or Wednesday in which Quarterly Options Series already exist. If the Monday in which the series expires is not a business day, the series shall expire on the first business day immediately following that Monday. If the Wednesday in which the series expires is not a business day, the series shall expire on the first business day immediately prior to that Wednesday.

Strike Intervals

The minimum interval between strike prices for Monday and Wednesday IWM Expirations will be $0.50, the same as for current options within the Short Term Options Series Program.
