REMINDER: Beta Testing for the NASDAQ Market Data Feed Enhancements Now Available

What you need to know:

  • As announced in Data Technical News #2013-60, NASDAQ OMX® is now offering customer access to live data in the new data feed versions for testing only purposes.
  • The new data feed versions will remain in beta until Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Carteret data center; and Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Ashburn data center. Please note: The enhanced data feeds will not be disseminated out of Carteret for beta testing between Monday, March 3rd, and Friday, March 14th.
  • The new data feeds will be released for production on Monday, March 17, 2014.
  • The NASDAQ TotalView-ITCH FPGA product will undergo a hot cut implementation on Monday, March 17, 2014 .

What are the scheduled test dates?

NASDAQ OMX® is now offering customer access to live data in the new data feed versions at both its Carteret, NJ and Ashburn, VA data centers. The new data feed versions will remain in beta until Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Carteret data center; and Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Ashburn data center.

Please note: The enhanced data feeds will not be disseminated out of Carteret for beta testing between Monday, March 3rd, and Friday, March 14th. NASDAQ OMX advises firms to utilize the Ashburn data center for beta testing during these dates.

During the beta period, firms should limit the use of live data to internal testing purposes only.

When will the new data feeds be available in production?

On Monday, March 17, 2014, the new software-based versions of the data feeds will be released for production. For the NASDAQ TotalView-ITCH FPGA product only, NASDAQ OMX plans to do a hot cut implementation on Monday, March 17, 2014.

For all other affected NASDAQ Stock Market®, NASDAQ OMX BXSM and NASDAQ OMX PSXSM products, NASDAQ OMX will offer a six-month parallel production period for customers to transition to the new proprietary data formats. NASDAQ OMX will discontinue the legacy versions of its proprietary message formats on after the close of business on Friday, September 26, 2014. NASDAQ OMX advises firms to take advantage of the beta test and parallel production periods to avoid a loss of data on Monday, September 29, 2014.

Are sample files available?

At this time, NASDAQ OMX does not have sample files of the new data feeds versions. NASDAQ OMX does plan to provide sample files for additional testing purposes. Sample files will be posted on the NASDAQ EMI FTP site. Details of the sample files will be announced in the future.

What are the new multicast addresses?

The UDP/IP Address List on the NASDAQ OMX Trader® website includes the enhanced versions of the data feeds offered in the MoldUDP64 protocol.

Please note: Select IP UDP/IP Addresses have been updated, please review the list to confirm you have the most up-to-date address.

What are the new TCP addresses?

As is normal practice, NASDAQ OMX will assign IP address and port information for SoupBINTCP protocol feeds at the time of ordering process. NASDAQ OMX will directly communicate with existing TCP customers to assist with the ordering of the new data feeds via the SoupBINTCP protocol.

Do NASDAQ OMX direct data feed subscribers need to order the new data feeds?

Yes, NASDAQ OMX has already contacted direct data feed subscribers detailing the ordering procedures. If subscribers are concerned that they have not been contacted, please contact your NASDAQ OMX account manager or complete a Data Feed Request for the new data feed versions.

Where can I find the revised market data technical interface specifications?

The technical specifications for the enhanced data feeds are available on the U.S. Equities Data Feed Specifications page on the NASDAQ OMX Trader® website.

What are the new bandwidth recommendations?

As originally announced, the average message size of the new proprietary data feed products has increased by approximately 10%. The Bandwidth Report has been updated to reflect the 10% increase for the new data feeds. NASDAQ OMX will continue to monitor the data feeds and may provide updates to the bandwidth in the future.
