UPDATE: Nasdaq Reminds Data Recipients that Order Reference Numbers on Nasdaq Equity Data Feeds May Be Out of Order

What you need to know:

  • UPDATE: Effective Monday, February 22, 2016, as part of a performance upgrade, data recipients may see Order Reference Numbers that are out of order.
  • Nasdaq would like to remind firms that they should be capable of receiving Order Reference Numbers in the long integer format.

What is being announced?

Nasdaq is reminding data recipients that there is no guarantee that the Order Reference Number will be in sequence. Furthermore, the Order Reference Number field is a long integer. As part of a performance upgrade, data recipients may see Order Reference Numbers that are out of order starting Monday, February 22, 2016.

For example, Order Reference 21 may be sent before Order Reference 14. In addition, Nasdaq expects the max Order Reference value to grow with the performance upgrade.
