REMINDER: Nasdaq to Update NFN Daily List, NFN Symbol Directory, and Expand NFN Data Service Instrument Code

Effective Monday, August 20, 2018, Nasdaq will integrate the rebrand of Nasdaq Mutual Fund Quotation Service (MFQS) to Nasdaq Fund Network (NFN) in to the NFN Daily List and NFN Symbol Directory.

As a result of this rebranding there will be changes to the NFN Daily List and Directory. All branding will be removed from the NFN Daily List and Directory downloads. Additionally, branding will be removed from the NFN Daily List Event Codes as well.

Update 05/21/2018:

In this release NFN will now offer all NFN web service downloads in JSON format.

As part of the rebranding, Nasdaq is changing pricing file headers for FTP, and Secure Web Service 0050 pricing formats.

Nasdaq Security Master to be added to NFN Daily List and Directory. Security Master is a Nasdaq registration number for funds without CUSIP and ISIN numbers.

Nasdaq is adding a new fund type and code to NFN Daily List, NFN Directory, and NFN Data Service. NFN issuers can now list Demand Deposit Accounts (Type: DD, Code: 5)

With this release Nasdaq is also expanding the Instrument Code in the Nasdaq Fund Network Data Service. The code will expand from Message Category A and Message Type J to Message Category A to Message Type K.


What is changing?

On Monday, August 20, 2018, Nasdaq will release branding changes to the NFN Daily List, NFN Symbol Directory. As well as expand the Instrument Code in the NFN Data Service. The change details are as follows:

Update 05/21/2018: On August 20, 2018, Nasdaq will release new NFN Instrument Types to be added to the existing Instrument Type field. The codes for the NFN Daily List and NFN Directory are as follows:

What is the Nasdaq Security Master?

Update 05/21/2018:The Nasdaq Security Master unique identifier created by Nasdaq that is used for investment products where they are not registered with S&P Global or other such firm. The Nasdaq SM will be a unique 12 digit code that serves as a common key across the Nasdaq Fund Network. This code is unique to each instrument and will never be reused.

How can I test these NFN changes?

Nasdaq will offer the following testing opportunities:

  • Evening test transmissions for Nasdaq Fund Network Data Service data feed subscribers will be announced by July 9, 2018.Nasdaq plans to broadcast NFN Data Service pre-formatted test messages via production IP multicast channels from 9:05 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., ET.
  • Nasdaq has created the following sample files for the NFN Daily List and NFN Symbol Directory files for client testing purposes. Please use links below to download.
  • Update 05/21/2018: Nasdaq is introducing JSON files for the web service downloads. Links for the new format can be found in the sample file lists below.

Nasdaq will offer two Saturday User Acceptance Tests (UATs) for NFN issuers, pricing agents and market data vendors on:

  • Saturday, August 4, 2018 - UAT
  • Saturday, August 18, 2018 - Confidence Test

Firms wishing to participate in the UATs should complete and submit the NFN testing registration form to NFN Operations by the Thursday before the scheduled test date.
