  • Select Nasdaq indexes experienced data dissemination issues for index values effective Monday, April 8, 2024, and Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

  • Clients should load any missing values on their platforms with the attached. These are also available on the Nasdaq Global Index Watch (GIW) website, Web Services API, and Global Index FlexFile (GIFFD) SFTP.


What is the issue?

Starting on Sunday night after 7:30 p.m. ET and until Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. ET, a select list of Nasdaq indexes experienced dissemination issues for index values, including the start-of-day, end-of-day, and intraday ticks.

What is the root cause?

As part of an effort to continuously modernize technology systems, Nasdaq planned a server upgrade on Sunday April 7, 2024. However, there was a security issue identified during the upgrade on Sunday night and Monday morning that caused a delay. On Monday night and Tuesday morning, there was an issue with rolling back the upgrade to the failover infrastructure.

What are the indexes impacted to back-fill?

A list of select Nasdaq indexes that were impacted can be found here.Clients are encouraged to back-fill these values from the GIW Website, GIW Web Services (API), or Global Index FlexFile (SFTP).

Is this issue expected in the future?

This was an isolated incident and we do not expect this issue from happening in the future.
