The Crossing Network
Opening and Closing Crosses

Intraday and Post Close Crosses
Building on the success of the Opening and Closing Crosses, NASDAQ also launched the Intraday and Post-Close Crosses, which are fully anonymous, deeply liquid and allow for large block trades without moving the market.
IPO and Halt Close Crosses
The IPO/Halt Cross provides fair executions at a single price that maximizes volume and is reflective of supply and demand in the market.

Select Market Maker Program
Brian Peura Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation (NASDAQ: SSCC) “We appreciate the relationship that our NASDAQ Market Intelligence Desk has with the select market makers. During the market turmoil this summer these relationships helped us better understand our company's market fluctuations based on real-time information from the trading desks. This program has given us new insights into how our stock trades that we didn't have before.” |
The Select Market Maker Program is a certification created to highlight the quality of NASDAQ's market making model by designating qualified market makers as "Select" on a stock-by-stock basis. Issuers can see a list of the firms that meet certain pre-set quoting and trading standards in their own stock. In addition, the NASDAQ Market Intelligence Desk (MID) connects market makers and issuers through various forms of communication including conference calls, webcasts and market maker visits. Building on the success of the Select Market Maker Program with NASDAQ-listed securities, the program was extended to NYSE-listed companies as well. The NASDAQ Market Intelligence Desk is now a resource for these market makers to get more exposure with the companies they trade. |
